Urban Voice in collaboration with PPIT (Phnom Penh Institute of Technology) have hosted the Essay Contest 2014, with the topic: “A City Free Of Flying Rubbish”. On Oct 20th 2014, six winners amongst approximately 50 submissions were offered awards, after being selected by a five-member committee, made up of representatives from Urban Voice Cambodia, PPIT, CJCC (Cambodian Japan Corporation Center), CINTRI and NCCA (National Committee for Clean City Assessment, under the Ministry of Tourism).
Urban Voice Cambodia has been collaborating on this essay contest with PPIT since 2013. Last year, we awarded 10 essay contest winners, on the topic “Green Technology for a Clean City”.
This activity is a strong way to build youth’s engagement with issues of the city of Phnom Penh, and its urban development, as it encourages young people to be creative and reflective.
In addition, it will build awareness for the public, and members of local authorities and the private sector to get involved with urban issues and urban development activities within their community.
