Moreover, The Phnom Penh Post also posted and published an article on 17th June 2013 about EDC’s promise of more power, sceptics wait. According to the Phnom Penh Post, Electricite du Cambodge (EDC) will start supplying power to Phnom Penh and two other provinces, Kampong Speu, and Kandal province. The article indicates that EDC is ready to supply coal fired energy of up to 50 MW to the three main areas. Further reading in English and Khmer.
Can EDC do as it says?
Urban Voice Cambodia on 29th May 2013, sent an open letter to Mr. Kao Ratanak, General Director of EDC requesting the release of the power cut schedule. Currently EDC releases statements occasionally; however, there has never been a published power cut schedule. We hope that EDC will cooperate with us and publish the power cut schedule to inform the public.
