Police arrested seven people at Phnom Penh’s historic White Building yesterday morning for allegedly gambling and doing drugs in a rental room.

Leng Kemheang, Chamkarmon district deputy police chief, said the arrests were a result of routine checks at the building in order to reinforce a security and safety policy.

“After checking the rental rooms in that area, our forces arrested seven people and seized some evidence, including the stuff for consuming drugs and drugs,” he said, adding that 10 tablets of methamphetamine were confiscated.

Instead of being sent to court, the seven people arrested were taken to a vocational training centre for recovering addicts, according to police.
