On 10 December 2015,
approximately 3000 people from different communities in Phnom Penh and provinces, monks and non-governmental organizations march to submit petitions to the Ministry of Justice in order to celebrate the International Human Rights Day. The groups gather in three locations such as the ‘gun’ roundabout, near the Wat Phnom High School and Chroy Changva Bridge, Outside the Senate, and Chenla Theatre Park. The participants continue the marching performing songs, and raising banner on the way to the Ministry.
The marching arrives the Ministry of Justice with strictly observation from the authorities (some places, polices are deployed to arrange traffic). We see the presence of security guards and polices massively deployed for security purpose in front of the Ministry of Justice. People delivered speeches and concerns about land grabbing, making recommendations to the government. Finally, the ministry representative received the petition, and people returned to their communities.
